Goodwill is a great place to donate items you no longer use and an awesome place to buy bargain used clothing and other merchandise. Some people think that products at secondhand stores are trash, but to others they are akin to gold and silver. However, finding something that you want or need is easier said than done. Fortunately, there are ways to make your shopping journey easier by following these three tips:
- Be cautious with used shoes. If you come upon a pair of shoes that look cool or cute to you, don’t rush to buy them right away. Everyone is familiar with the phrase “Looks can be deceiving”, and this adage applies to shoes, too. Even if they appear stylish, the last owner might have had a foot fungus, or some other foot-related issues, and shoes can’t be washed like clothes can. Ask a staff member if they sell never-used shoes or shoes worn only a few times.
- Shop around the holidays. Did you know that shopping at Goodwill near the holidays is the best time to snag bargains? That’s because during holidays like Christmas and after New Year’s Day, people are emptying their homes of unwanted goods to make room for new products or to keep in line with their New Year’s resolutions. The item that you yearned for but couldn’t find before may be available on a major holiday next time.
- Making Goodwill shopping a habit. To be able to find the best-quality items, make a note to shop at Goodwill at least once or twice a week. The more you go, the more cognizant you will become in grabbing high-quality items at unbelievable discounts. Also, you will know when racks and shelves are restocked so that you can schedule your visits around those times.
